Just incase you were wondering, yes, we survived. Gustav gave the state of Louisiana a mighty blow.
We in the Monroe area were affected by high wind and plenty of rain. We were without power and Internet
Sunday through Thursday but didn't have any wind damage or flooding. Really happy to get electricity
and Web access back. You really don't know how much you depend upon the utilitiy companies until
their services are gone. Hope you and yours got through the storms OK and our thoughts and prayers
go out to those who got the worst of it.
Keep that smile going, Lamar

Yes, we've got hurricanes approaching and people are fleeing,
but New Orleans is here to stay
and Louisiana is here to stay!
After Rita and Katrina, NOLA RISING was born.
NoLa Rising is a post-Katrina art campaign encouraging people in all faubourgs of Greater New Orleans to publicly display works of art, regardless of how simple or untutored it may seem to be, for the purpose of rebuilding and restoring the human spirit in our city. NOLA is a unique and beautiful city that has historically embraced the spirit of personal freedom that supports the growth of the artist, musician and writer ... the goal of the NoLa Rising Project is to showcase that spirit.

Ralph, the head guy, and some of his cactus.
Yep, that's me and a few of my cactus.
The kids got to choose and plant the cactus for their container garden.
Then you choose your gravel, special rocks, and a creature.
And there's his very own Desert Container Garden.
More fixing going on.
And more...
And happy faces all around.
??????????????????????????????????????????
This past weekend I had the wonderful opportuntiy to be part of Elsong Gardens'
Drop-in Children's Activities "Desert Container Gardens".
Kids, plants, dirt, gravel, clay pots, cactus...what more could you ask?
It looks like the adults had fun too!

Did you make the Gallery Crawl? If you didn't, you missed a good one.
Mary and I and my trusty iPhone (used it to take these photos) visited the galleries and had a blast.
Great art, great food, great people; the place to be. I'll let you know when the next one takes place.

My friend and fellow photographer, Kevin Hawkins of Ruston, came down to St.Francisville
to visit and get in a little personal photography. We had a perfect day to capture Rosedown Plantation,
Grace Church, and Afton Villa Gardens. Let me know when you get ready for a little
St.Francisville photographic adventure.

North 18th Street in front of my studio is having a remake. I just thought this concrete eating machine was cool.
